This is one of the greatest Animated film I have ever seen. A wonderful and inspiring adaptation of Earnest Hemingway's story of the same title. Aleksandr Petrov, the one man Army behind this classic adaptation, has achieved so many well deserved prestigious awards for this once in a life time movie that can be made. The film won many awards, including the Academy Award for Animated Short Film. Work on the film took place in Montreal over a period of two and a half years and was funded by an assortment of Canadian, Russian and Japanese companies.Source: WikiDirector Aleksandr PetrovScenario Aleksandr PetrovAnimators Aleksandr PetrovDmitri PetrovVideo operator Thierry FargeauProducer Bernard LajoieTatsuo ShimamuraExecutive producers Jean-Yves MartelShizuo OhashiComposers Denis L. Remarkable! I re-read "The Old Man and the Sea" every few years, and this animated movie truly captures the story's spirit. This was a pleasure to watch, and I'm certain I will return to it often.

La realizacin de este video se adapta al rigor esttico de su autor con una soberbia plasticida y belleza, que seduce y embeleza por su acierto simblico como lo logran cautivar los pasajes bblicos. Vayan, pues, mis felicitaciones sinceras a tan franco y decididos realizadores

david # 14 ноября 2012 в 10:10 0
This is crazily amazing! does anyone know if its using traditional oil paints or oil pastels? I assumed paint but read somewhere that it was pastels
cksunar # 14 ноября 2012 в 10:12 0
This is one of the best animation I've ever has so much depth and essence of what a true animation should be.Unbelievable really...thank god we have still devoted artists like Petrov. We should abandon the use of excess CGI, even Miyazakisan turned to traditional hand made anmation. To me there is still magic with the traditional methods.Thats the right way..
smgjohn # 14 ноября 2012 в 10:13 0
There is no rigth and wrong, it's just opinions, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got them. But needless to say traditional hand drawn animation has that special atmosphere which is impossible to recreate with computer technology no matter how advanced they become but then again CGI is something for itself, it's special just like traditional animation. I like them all but traditional animation give me tears to the eyes because of it's beauty

stopmoti # 14 ноября 2012 в 13:04 0
This is neither the time or place for bickering. Besides it looks likes you have enough trouble stringing your sentences together. I won't argue with you, but you're more than welcome to write more embarrassing comments.
light0fj # 14 ноября 2012 в 13:30 0
You're just a dumb troll who sits at home all day and talks shit online. I'm pretty sure i do not have any trouble ''stringing together'' sentences. I'm actually an English Major and i'd rather not waste my time ''bickering'' with an ignorant Neanderthal such as yourself, BUT I will say one thing. The only thing that is embarrassing is the fact that you have no life and spend all day online picking fights with others, as i can tell by the way you retorted masta7sirius' statement. GET A LIFE!
arrycatm # 14 ноября 2012 в 13:32 0
...I'm pretty sure knowing how to use a keyboard on a sub par level isn't how one Majors in English.
light0fj # 14 ноября 2012 в 14:22 0
i'd say you would have to use a keyboard at least on a sub par level to pass English, not like you would know though.

Does anyone knows if he uses real footages to work over as a starting point?
jeffrey # 14 ноября 2012 в 18:05 0
There is a behind the scenes that shows he painted every slide by hand.
primarys # 14 ноября 2012 в 18:08 0
Obviously he did but starting from what? His imagination only? All is too perfect, realistic and coherent. Every gesture, every expression. He must have had real footage with actors to work upon. I'm just guessing, not trying to take merit out of his work, which in any case would be amazing.
sortsyli # 14 ноября 2012 в 18:31 0
It is only handmade oil paintings. About 29 000 of 'em

He and my granddad were pals for a spell, Poppa and Pappy. It's not easy to admit you've gotten old and irrelevant.Judge only talked when drinking. Like most men, he was a bivalve,a sort of clam. Touch him and he closed up. Give him fluids and he filtered. He told me, one night, of the time when he was a tyke, and was taken drift fishing,in a tiny boat on Biscayne Bay, just himself, Pappy and Poppa. Judge was five.A boy listened to old men of the sea. A story, years later, before, of three.
